There’s something special about Lake Chelan. It’s a place where memories are made, adventures are had, and people fall in love, quite literally, with each other and the location.
It offers the perfect scenic background no matter the season, but in spring and summer it truly sparkles. Our 425 Resort Home of the Year is located within The Lookout, Chelan’s newest walkable community, and is surrounded by rolling hills, pedestrian paths, and other beautiful homes — all overlooking the area’s biggest and best attraction — the lake, of course.
“The home was built with both summer and winter entertaining in mind,” said The Lookout’s general manager, Guy Evans. “The summer is great for indoor/outdoor living with the 20-foot NanaWall opening and comfortable deck seating area. Winter is just as appealing in the cozy, lodge-like living room featuring giant, hand-built wood trusses.
“The expansive windows allow you to enjoy spectacular views and the 300 days of sunshine Chelan is known for,” he added. “Comfortable furniture and a Control 4 sound system round out the picture for a family retreat or entertaining.”
The home is a blend of modern and farmhouse. We love the welcoming feel of this covered, large front porch, the weathered wood siding, and the modern light fixtures.
The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath home designed by SkB Architects of Seattle is two levels and spacious at 2,314 square feet. The carriage house offers an additional bedroom and bath comprising 354 square feet. The “L” shaped home takes advantage of the unique wedge-shaped lot. The home’s shape also helps with maximizing the light and flow throughout, all while offering the best views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Kyle Gaffney of SkB Architects says the design of the 425 Resort Home of the Year was inspired by the desire to create a transitional architecture between the established traditionally styled homes of The Lookout and a more modern direction intended for future development on the hillside below. He describes the style of the home as “modern farmhouse.”
The exposed trusses in the living room add warmth, while the modern finishes bring depth and character to the space. The heart of the living room is a floor-to-ceiling fireplace with black rolled metal surround, large basalt tile chimney, and a rustic wood mantel.
The professional chef’s kitchen has an expansive island that provides a place for guests to cook and mingle. The kitchen includes a farmhouse sink, high-end stainless steel appliances and solid quartz countertops.
The two upstairs master bedrooms are spacious and light-filled with charm to spare. Both feature panoramic windows and spectacular views. A kids’ room with cozy built-in bunk beds and a rustic barn-style door add to the magic of this lakeside home.
The bathrooms introduce large walk-in showers with luxurious rain heads, warm wood-grain cabinetry, and double sinks in both masters.
The home also features a furnished bedroom and full bathroom above the garage, which makes a great place for guests who like their privacy, or for teenagers to congregate.
Whether you are vacationing or in the market for a rustic family getaway, this home has the charm to melt away your worries. The home is privately owned, but is open for tours by appointment and is available for purchase, fully furnished.

Homes range in size and style from stately with double-decker decks and enough rooms to house a party of 22, to small, sweet cottage-style homes. The Lookout has some full-time residents, but most people purchase their homes at The Lookout for vacationing and investment. All homes are eligible to join The Lookout’s cottage-rental program. Rentals began in 2014, and roughly two-thirds of the homes have joined the program. It takes eight to 10 months to build a home from time of purchase commitment. The community marina features 70 berths and will soon feature a sandy beach and swimming area. One outdoor pool is open, and three additional pools are planned. The cottage rental program takes care of all aspects of renting for owners – marketing, reservations, and housekeeping.
