Owner Mark Mizer — a self-taught chef under the wise tutelage of his uncle Hwang, and with many years of experience in the restaurant industry — knows a good thing when he sees it, and the “mixed-plate” style of Hawaii’s multicultural cuisine was love at first sight.

He started the Buddha Bruddah food trucks and enjoyed great success, then opened a restaurant in Seattle, and recently opened another in Kenmore. Mitzer also is remodeling a pickup counter in Kirkland’s Kingsgate area, where folks can get to-go orders, or order delivery.

The brick-and-mortar locations allow for an expanded menu of dishes, so along with the restaurant’s classic plate lunch-style chicken katsu, coconut shrimp, and kalua pork, additional dishes such as tempura shrimp and Locomoco will be available.
