International Firefighters' Day
Aegis Living participated in International Firefighters' Day yesterday by hand-delivering to firehouses across Seattle and the Eastside 1,000 pounds of curated treats from Thiessen Ranch. As the more than 2,000 firefighters across the area's firehouses often visit Aegis Living, the latter organization wanted to pay a token of gratitude, the organization said.
Local Film Premiering on PBS
A new documentary from Seattle-based filmmaker Reed Harkness is premiering May 8 as part of PBS' "Independent Lens." In "Sam Now," which will be available to stream after its PBS debut, Harkness follows his brother, Sam, from ages 11 through 36 after their mother leaves the family. Find out more here.
Seattle Trans Film Festival 2023
The Three Dollar Bill Cinema-produced TRANSlations: Seattle Trans Film Festival is taking place this week. The festival, which launched in 2006, is one of just nine trans-focused film festivals globally. Films will be available virtually through May 7 and in-person screenings will be held at Columbia City's Ark Lodge Theater May 5-6. See the lineup and get tickets here.
