Renton musician Kaley Puckett, who performs under the name Puck, has announced their debut album, Best Friend.
The LP, out Nov. 11, is self-released and was mastered by Mike Bozzi (Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone).
Puckett, who uses she/they pronouns, is best known for their work as a keyboardist for acts including dhruv, Maggie Rogers, and SZA — collaborations that notably have led them to grace the stages of the likes of Coachella, Saturday Night Live, and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Featuring percussion from David Frazier, Jr. (SZA, Moses Sumney), and bass from 13th Law (KeiyaA), Best Friend is stylistically eclectic but thematically unified lyrically by Puckett’s experiences with and reflections on an abusive relationship.
“I didn’t really have much music to heal by — so I made some,” Puckett said in a statement.
The album announcement comes in tandem with the release of the namesake lead single, which you can listen to below.
