MLK Community Celebration 

The Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee is hosting a Greater Everett Community Celebration in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., on Jan. 16 at First Presbyterian Church. The celebration will include keynote speaker Nekya Johnson (DEI Diva), a musical tribute from the MLK Celebration Ensemble, and special contributions from Everett Community Youth. The SCBHC also will provide resources, referrals for services, free COVID vaccines, and more. The celebration will be a hybrid event. More information here

Take A Plunge   

Take an icy cold splash at the January Jump, Polar Bear Plunge, Jan. 22, at Kirkland’s Houghton Beach Park. Choose a session and enjoy the cold plunge, vendor booths, cornhole, a best-plunge costume contest, and trivia. Warm up with coffee and cocoa and free clam chowder from Ivar’s. Registration is required. 

A One-Woman Show   

The one-woman show, Fannie: The Music and Life of Fannie Lou Hamer, is coming to the Seattle Rep’s Bagley Wright Theater from Jan. 14 to Feb. 13. The part-theater, part-revival, and all-power show will have your head nodding and hands clapping from start to finish. More information here
