The Code Book Talk

On Tuesday, Oct. 29th, The Edgewater Hotel and Noble Presents will host a reading and book signing with Margaret O’Mara, author of The Code. A historian and professor at the University of Washington, O’Mara will present her original research on Silicon Valley’s visionaries and game-changing institutions. The free event will take place in Alki Room from 6 to 8 p.m. Afterwards, guests can engage in a Q&A and sip complimentary beer and wine while talking in views of Elliott Bay.

Pee Wee Monster Bash

The North Kirkland Community Center’s will hold its annual Pee Wee Monster Bash Halloween Carnival from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 25th. The non-spooky Halloween experience for children five and under will include swamp fishing, crafts, a cookie walk, and story time. Costumes are encouraged, as is advanced registration since the event typically sells out. Tickets are $15 and are available at the City of Kirkland’s website.

The Magic of Storytelling

Experience a night of storytelling at Seattle’s historic Smith Tower on from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 30th. Local authors curated by nonprofit The Bureau of Fearless Ideas will perform live readings, including Isaac Marion of the Warm Bodies book series. Additional entertainment will be provided by magician Nash Fung, and refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served. All proceeds from the evening will benefit The Bureau of Fearless Ideas, which teaches creative writing and storytelling to kids ages 6-18. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Brown Paper Tickets.
