| I made My Own Wine!
Long tables were set up for a chemistry experiment with white paper coverings, beakers, graduated cylinders, and pitot tubes.
This was not your typical science class though, as the tables were set up in a room full of wine barrels at the Novelty Hill-Januik Winery. The second annual “Blend and Bottle” event was held February 6 in which participants were instructed in the art of wine blending by Mike Januik himself.
Five wines were presented in individual buckets and after a review of the basics, the crowd had glasses clinking and graduated cylinders filling, all in pursuit of the perfect mix. Each participant took home a bottle of their special combination and a new appreciation for winemakers like Mike Januik.
After catching this inner glimpse at the wine process all the way from pulling wine out of the barrel to foil sealing the finished bottle none will look at a bottle of wine the same again.
Novelty Hill/Januik is located in Woodinville and offers their own wines for sample on regular weekend tastings.
