Thinking Outside of the Box

A Split-Level Surprise

You probably think you know this house – but you have no idea.  At first glance, it looks like a typical split-level home in an average neighborhood, just up the hill from the Redmond Town Center.  Built in 1968, the rectangular box-style home sits unassuming amongst towering pine trees, next door to homes that look a lot like it. But as soon as you enter you realize James and Liz McDaniel have transformed their once average home into something uniquely theirs.

“We don’t have a desire for a McMansion,” said James, who worked at Microsoft for 14 years before recently leaving to work as a video game developer for a local start-up company.  His wife works in Microsoft’s product support group administration department. “This is a perfectly great house. We love it. We wanted the inside to match our current needs.”
